Garage Liability Insurance

in New Mexico, Utah, and Texas

In addition to general commercial liability policy, any company that manages customers' vehicles needs garage liability insurance. This includes repair shops, automobile dealers, tow truck drivers, and service stations.

Typically general commercial liability policy would not protect damage to non-insured vehicles. In the case of accidents at the premises, the garage liability insurance fills the gap to protect shop owners.

Garage liability insurance is a special insurance policy for car industry professionals. Your company is covered with garage insurance from bodily injury and business property loss.

To insure vehicles of your customers, you need garage keepers insurance. They are typically sold as a package, so you will be safe from accidents or situations of any kind. Even as they are normally sold together, you will have to sign different agreements and need to inquire why they are not offered automatically.

Who needs insurance of this type? It is certainly important for gas stations. Used-car dealers must transport a number of cars, so they certainly need it. This insurance also covers car washes, parking and valet lots, and garages.

What Does Garage Liability Insurance Cover?

Not all garage insurance policy offers the same amount of coverage. A typical garage liability policy only covers bodily injures in your place of business. You could, for example, be liable for any medical bills that occur if a customer has a slip injury while walking through your workshop. Your garage insurance policy will cover these health bills to the defined limit of your policy.

Garage liability policy most also covers liability arising from general business activities, for example, when an employee files a discrimination complaint. There can also be a dishonesty portion of your policy that protects customer vehicle theft or vandalization by disgruntled workers.

What it does not cover? The Garage Liability Insurance may not protect the policyholder's instruments, personal or business property, and building.

It does not protect the vandalism, theft, or damage caused by incidents like hail. This policy is not cover for injuries or on-site harm to the vehicles of the customer. Furthermore, all basic policy items or other items may have the full coverage of liability and may have gross cap limits by year or by a claim.

Garage liability insurance may also be confused with garage-keepers insurance. These are two separate policies with different terms. In case of customer vehicles damaged when at your place of business, the garage-keeper insurance would cover you. In standard garage liability policies this coverage is not included. The insurance coverage under garage keepers is only provided when certain hazards have caused harm as a result of a vehicle crash, burglary, fire, adverse weather, vandalism, or accidental damage.
